On Sept. 14, Opera Philadelphia will screen Puccini’s “La Bohème” as part of Opera Philadelphia’s 9thannual Opera on the Mall at Independence National Historical Park.

The Opera on the Mall initiative has brought free opera to more than 30,000 Philadelphians since its inception in 2011. “La Bohème” was presented last season in a production by Davide Livermore with music director Corrado Rovaris conducting Puccini’s masterpiece.

The cast is led by soprano Vanessa Vasquez as Mimì, tenor Evan LeRoy Johnson as Rodolfo, baritone Troy Cook as Marcello, and Ashley Marie Robillard as Musetta. Peixin Chen and Kevin Burdette round out the cast as Colline and Alincindoro/Benoit.

The presentation of “La Bohème’ will serve as a celebratory kickoff event for O19, Opera Philadelphia’s third annual festival featuring twelve days of operatic events all over the city from September 18-29 including a new production of “The Love for Three Oranges.”
