Opera Philadelphia Announces Week Two Of Digital Festival O

Opera Philadelphia has announced week two of its Digital Festival O.

This week, the company will present “We Shall Not Be Moved” in its television premiere presented in collaboration with WHYY-TV12.

The chamber opera will be broadcast on Sunday, May 10, at 2:00 p.m. throughout the Greater Philadelphia region on WHYY and will premiere on YouTube and operaphila.org on May 10 at 7:00 p.m., streaming on-demand through August 31. The opera stars Lauren Whitehead, Kirstin Chávez, John Holiday, tenor Daniel Shirley, Adam Richardson, and Aubrey Allicock.

On Friday, May 8 Countertenor John Holiday will celebrate the broadcast premiere of the opera with a special living room recital via Facebook Live (facebook.com/OperaPhila/). Holiday performs music by Poulenc, Handel, and Gershwin.

Opera Philadelphia will also showcase Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” Lembit Beecher and Hannah Moscovitch’s “Sky on Swings,” and Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s iconic “Breaking the Waves” in the coming weeks.
