
Opera Parallèle to Present Lucia Lucas as ‘EXPANSIVE: A Showcase of Transgender and Nonbinary Classical Artists’
By Francisco SalazarOpera Parallèle, in proud collaboration with The San Francisco Transgender District, is set to present “EXPANSIVE: A Showcase of Transgender and Nonbinary Classical Artists” for its fourth annual presentation.
This year, the program will feature the San Francisco debut of acclaimed transgender baritone, Lucia Lucas and will be held on August 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the A.C.T. Toni Rembe Theater.
Lucas will be joined by additional guest singers and pianist Taylor Chan for a 90-minute program.
In a statement, Nicole Paiement, General and Artistic Director of Opera Parallèle said, “We are honored to welcome the remarkable Lucia Lucas to Expansive this year. Her artistry and presence on the global operatic stage embody the mission of this showcase — to uplift and celebrate transgender and nonbinary excellence in classical music.”
