Opera Orlando’s ‘Encore!’ Series to Present ‘Hansel & Gretel’

By Logan Martell

Opera Orlando continues its recently-launched “Encore!” series on Feb. 12, 2021, with Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.”

This new series records mainstage performances and makes them available online, with behind-the-scenes content, cast interviews, and more. In December of last year, Opera Orlando’s broadcast of “Die Fledermaus,” opened up new audiences for the company both in the U.S. and abroad, and the organization hopes to be able to share its work and keep audiences connected.

The opera stars Kyaunnee Richardson, Gloria Palermo, and Robyn Rocklein.

This production features musicians from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and is filmed at the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Entries in the “Encore!” series will be available for streaming for two weeks after their premiere.

In April, Opera Orlando will follow with Bizet’s “Carmen.”
