Opera Omaha will join forces with renowned countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo for its annual gala scheduled on April 19, 2024.

The event will feature the world premiere of Costanzo’s “Don’t Look Back,” which features music by Mozart, Gluck, and Handel. Alongside Costanzo is filmmaker and photographer Pix Talarico who will allow audiences to interact with original music manuscripts, colliding past and present. “Don’t Look Back” is part of the countertenor’s MYTHS Festival, a series of performances in which he explores the idea of myth across a vast array of contexts.

“Simply put: We are thrilled to welcome superstar countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo to Opera Omaha,” said Opera Omaha General Director, Allison Swenson, per an official press statement issued by the company. “Anthony’s accolades are too numerous to list. He has performed with every major opera company in the world and has been hailed by The New York Times, The New Yorker, Le Monde, Opera, Opera News, and the Wall Street Journal. He is a magnetic artist and creator, and an effective advocate for opera and its place in our modern lives.”

Costanzo recently appeared with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and as part of the Celebrity Series of Boston. He is also slated to perform at the Opera National de Paris in “The Exterminating Angel.”
