Opera Omaha Names Principal Guest Conductor

Opera Omaha has named Maestro Steven White the company’s first Principal Guest Conductor.

White will begin a three-year engagement with the Omaha company.

In a statement, Opera Omaha General Director, Allison Swenson said, “Steven White has been a superlative colleague and a consistent force of musical excellence in Omaha for 10 years, and we are delighted that he will join us as Principal Guest Conductor.”

Over the years White has conducted seven pieces with the company, including “The Marriage of Figaro” in 2023 and Opera Under the Stars during the COVID pandemic. In his new position, White will lead one opera each season, and will also be involved in various engagement programming and events throughout the community.

White’s first opera in his new position will be “La Traviata,” which will be performed on Feb. 16 & 18, 2024.
