Opera Omaha has announced that Katrina Thurman will be its new Director of Artistic Administration.

In her new role, Thurman will act as a liaison between the major performers, managers, and administrations of the company. She started her career as a soprano, appearing with such companies as The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Opera Omaha, Opera Philadelphia, Florida Grand Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Utah Opera, Tulsa Opera, Florentine Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, The Dallas Opera, and the New York City Opera, among others.

From there she went on to work with ADA Artist Management where she was a PR Manager and Director of Marketing and Community Engagement. She is also the founder and General and Artistic Director of East Passyunk Opera Project in Philadelphia. She was also nominated for the Woman of the Year with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for raising over $90,000 in 10 weeks; she was subsequently awarded the Mission Integration Award.

“As both a former young artist and guest artist with Opera Omaha, I have always been deeply impressed by the company’s stellar reputation as an innovative and well-respected arts organization. I’m thrilled to be working alongside Allison Swenson and the wonderful team at Opera Omaha as it moves toward its next phase of existence,” said Thurman in an official press statement issued by the company.
