By David Salazar

Opera Omaha is set to kick off its 2021-22 season with “Opera Outdoors.”

The free, family-friendly showcase will take place on August 20, 2021 at Turner Park at Midtown Crossing. It will feature live performances from Opera Omaha’s Holland Community Opera Fellows, Jared Hiscock, and Jaime Webb, as well as special guests Mezzo-Soprano Hilary Ginther, Tenor Taylor Stayton, Bass Kevin Thompson, and the Opera Omaha Chorus.

Audiences will get a chance to listen to music by Verdi, Donizetti, Hammerstein, and Bernstein. There will also be a “Picnic Contest,” sponsored by Pic’d on Purpose, a woman-owned business.

“Opera Outdoors” will be hosted in both English and Spanish by media sponsor Classical 90.7 KVNO’s General Manager Chris Allen and Holland Community Opera Fellow Fernando Antonio Montejano.
