Opera NUOVA to Present ‘The Coronation of Poppea’ & ‘Tuck Everlasting’

Edmonton-based Opera Nuova has announced its upcoming performances.

On July 9, the company opened a new production of “The Coronation of Poppea” in a production by Kim Mattice Wanat. The work, which is conducted by Christopher Baga, stars Alexandra Morgan and Camille Labonte in the title role with Spencer VanDellen and Rain Seran-Senavinin sharing the role of Nerone. As Ottone, audiences can hear Lauren Hope and Kcenia Koutorjevski with Sahara Adamitz and Chihiro Yasufuku alternating as Ottavia. Seneca will taken on by Nicholas Gryniewski.

The opera will run on July 10, 12, and 14.

Following the Monteverdi work, the company is set to present the musical “Tuck Everlasting.” That work by Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen will open on July 13 and run through July 16, 2022.

Conductor Ryan Sigurdson and Director Rob Herriot will lead a cast starring Amy Bazin, Cassidy Galba, Aiden Laudersmith, Nico Maiorana, Rhea Rodych-Rasidescu, Jayden Burrows, Martin Galba, Patrick Lynn, Megan Strong, Spencer VanDellen, Nicky Lumley, Max Smith, Saundra Ward, Olivia Charlesbois-Brandvold, and Rebecca Bissonette.
