Opera Națională București Cancels Performances Due to COVID-19

Opera Națională București has canceled its upcoming performances that were scheduled from Sept. 5 to 13, 2020.

The Opera House initially stated that it canceled the performances “for objective reasons,” without further details. All the performances will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Opera Națională București has confirmed that ten of its employees have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Among the performances canceled are Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” “Italian evening & Evening Astor Piazzolla,” a concert of students of the National University of Music in Bucharest, a Verdi-Shakespeare Trilogy which included “Macbeth,” “Otello,” and “Falstaff,” and Mozart’s “Le Nozze Di Figaro.”

The scheduled performances were slated to take place in outdoor venues.
