Opéra National Du Rhin In Strasbourg Names General Director

Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg has named a new general director.

The company announced that Alain Perroux will become the company’s director after the death of the much esteemed Eva Kleinitz.

Perroux graduated from Haute École and the University of Geneve and became a music journalist at Le Temps from 1991 to 2001. He then became a dramaturg for the Grand Théâtre de Genève before becoming director of l’Opéra de Poche. With the Opéra de Poche he served as an impresario and stage director where he staged Impressions de Pelléas de Debussy in 2004 and 2011, “La Calisto” by Cavalli in 2006 and “Sweeney Todd” by Sondheim in 2008 and 2009.

He was also the librettist the opera by composer Xavier Dayer, entitled “Contes de la lune vague après la pluie,” which had its world premiere in Rouen, France in March 2015.

Perroux also served as a dramaturg and artistic adviser for the Festival Aix-en-Provence.

As the director of Rhin he will be in charge of planning the upcoming seasons including the 2020-21 season.
