Opéra National du Capitole Toulouse Announces Cast Changes for ‘Giulio Cesare’
By Francisco SalazarThe Opéra National du Capitole Toulouse has announced cast changes for its production of Händel’s “Giulio Cesare.”
The company said that contralto Rose Naggar-Tremblay was to be Cornelia in Handel’s “Giulio Cesare” but following the withdrawal of Elizabeth DeShong, she will play the title role. As a result, Cornelia will be portrayed by Georgian mezzo Irina Sherazadishvili.
Additionally, Countertenor William Shelton will perform at short notice at Midi du Capitole on Feb. 27, initially entrusted to Rose Naggar-Tremblay, with a program of arias from opera and French melodies.
“Giulio Cesare” will also star Claudia Pavone, Key’mon Murrah, Nils Wanderer, Edwin Fardini, William Shelton, and Adrien Fournaison. Les Talens Lyriques will be conducted by Christophe Rousset. Damiano Michieletto directs the production.
“Giulio Cesare” opens on Feb. 21 and runs through March 2, 2025.
