The Opéra National de Paris has just issued an official warning on its website, stating that due to the national strike notice all the performances from Jan. 17 to 22, 2020 might be affected.

This statement called three different productions into question.

The first was “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” which is set to be performed on Jan. 17, with a cast that includes Xabier Anduaga, Lisette Oropesa, Carlo Lepore, Krzysztof Bączyk, Tommaso Barea, Marion Lebègue, and Florian Sempey in the role of Figaro. Carlo Montanaro is set to conduct the production by Damiano Michieletto.

The second is the opening night performance of the ballet “L’Après-midi d’un faune” and Ravel’s opera “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges” that is on the program for Jan. 18 and Jan. 20. The cast for Ravel’s opera includes Jeanne Ireland, Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur, Aleksandra Jovanovic, Ilanah Lobel-Torres, Marianne Croux, Ramya Roy and Liubov Medvedeva. Vello Pähn is set to conduct the production by Richard Jones and Anthony McDonald.

The final production that could be affected will be opening night of Offenbach’s “Les Contes D’Hoffmann,” which is to open on Jan.21, with Michael Fabiano, Ailyn Pérez, Gaëlle Arquez, Jodie Devos and Véronique Gens starring. Sir Mark Elder is set to conduct the production by Robert Carsen.

The National strike against the French government’s pension reform has been hitting the Opéra de Paris over the last month, leading to a number of high profile cancellations. The company has advised ticket holders to regularly check its official website for further notices.
