Opéra National de Paris to Showcase Two French Classics as Part of ‘Opéra d’Été’ 2024
By David SalazarAs part of its “Opéra d’Été” program, the Opéra National de Paris will present video transmissions of numerous productions in different venues around the country throughout the summer.
This summer, the company will present two operas and two ballets, with the two vocal works including “Cendrillon” and “Roméo et Juliette.”
The operas will head to Vannes, Digne-les-Bains, Vesoul, La Léchere, Quimper, Saint-Raphaël, Nevers, Boulogn-Billancourt, Pau, Audierne, Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Bourges, Saint-Denis (La réunion), Cannes, Papeete, Yquebeuf, and Sarcelles.
Here is a breakdown of the full slate, which also includes dates for the two ballets on offer.
“Roméo et Juliette” is presented in a production by Thomas Jolly that stars Elsa Dreisig and Benjamin Bernheim in the title roles. It was recorded on Feb. 4-6, 2022. As for “Cendrillon,” that production by Mariame Clément stars Tara Erraught, Daniela Barcellona, Anna Stéphany, Kathleen Kim, Charlotte Bonnet, and Marion Lebègue. It was recorded on June 23-26, 2023. Carlo Rizzi conducted both operas.
