Opéra National de Paris to Live Stream ‘Die Zauberflöte’

The Opéra National de Paris has announced that it will live stream “Die Zauberflöte” starting on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

The work is presented in Robert Carsen’s production starring Julie Fuchs as Pamina, Cyrille Dubois as Tamino, Alex Esposito as Papageno, Mélissa Petit as Papagena, Nicolas Testé as Sarastro, and Sabine Devieilhe as the Queen of the Night. Cornelius Meister conducts the Paris Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

The opera can be streamed directly from the company’s official website until Feb. 21, 2021, and the showcase will be available for 30 days after purchase. The initial stream will feature French subtitles with a version including English subtitles set for release on Jan. 28, 2021.

The Opéra National de Paris recently announced the cancelation of live performances of this production as well as the cancelation of its production of “Capriccio.” The company also revealed plans to its schedule for other forthcoming opera productions including a potential concert showcase of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.”
