Opéra National de Paris to Honor Nicolas Joel With Online Broadcast of ‘Akmatova’

The Opéra National de Paris will be honoring the memory of director Nicolas Joel with an online broadcast of Bruno Mantovani’s “Akmatova.”

Audiences will be able to check out the performance between June 19-26 on the Opéra de Paris’ official website.

The work, which Joel directed back in 2011, starred Janina Baechle, Atilla Kiss-B, Lionel Peintre, Varduhi Abrahamyan, Valérie Condoluci, Christophe Dumaux, Fabrice Dalis, Paul Crémazy, Vladimir Kapshuk, Ugo Rabec, Sophie Claisse, Laura Agnoloni, Emanuel Mendes, Marie Adeline Henry, and Slawomir Szychowiak.

The opera was conducted by Pascal Rophé.

Joel, who passed away on June 18, 2020 in Toulouse, is the recipient of the Prix de la Critique Dramatique et Musicale and is an Officier de la Légion d’Honneur, and Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres.
