The Opéra National de Paris has announced that for the first time in its history, the company will be organizing an auction in support of its projects.

The auction will be organized by Paris Opera’s Outreach Association (AROP) and the auction house Sotheby’s.

The auction, entitled “ Soutenons l’Opéra, Enchérissons pour la création (Let’s support the Opera, Bid for creation)” is set to take place in person on Jan. 30, 2023; an online version of the auction commented on Jan. 23, 2023 and runs through the 31st.

Prospective bidders will get a chance to purchase works of contemporary art, jewelry and watches, wines and spirits, as well as experiences related to the company including seven stage costumes created for ballets and operas.

Per a report from Resmusica, the auction will allow the company to invest in previews for younger audiences, new offers for families, and artistic and cultural education programs.

The Opéra National de Paris recently opened a production of “Peter Grimes” that runs through Feb. 24. The organization is also in the midst of a run of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.”
