
Opéra National De Paris Cancels Two More Performances

Opéra National de Paris has canceled two more performances.
The company announced that has canceled the Jan. 17, 2020 presentation of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” due to the national strike. The company also announced that the ballet-opera “L’Après-midi d’un faune”/”L’Enfant et les sortilèges” scheduled for Jan. 18 would also be canceled.
“Il Barbiere di Siviglia” was supposed to star Xabier Anduaga, Lisette Oropesa, Carlo Lepore, Krzysztof Bączyk, Tommaso Barea, Marion Lebègue, and Florian Sempey in the title role. Carlo Montanaro was set to conduct the production by Damiano Michieletto.
“Il Barbiere di Siviglia” is still set to be performed on Jan. 20 at the Opéra Bastille.
Meanwhile, the cast for Ravel’s “L’Enfant et les sortilèges” was set to star Jeanne Ireland, Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur, Aleksandra Jovanovic, Ilanah Lobel-Torres, Marianne Croux, Ramya Roy and Liubov Medvedeva. Vello Pähn was set to conduct the production by Richard Jones and Anthony McDonald.
“L’Enfant et les sortilèges” returns on Jan. 20 at the Palais Garnier.
