Opéra National De Paris Announces Two Major Cast Changes

The Opera National de Paris has announced a number of major cast changes in two productions.

The company announced that due to medical reasons Alexander Tsymbalyuk has had to withdraw from the current production of Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mtsenk.” The singer, who is currently performing the roles of Chief of Police and Old Bagnard, will be replaced by Sava Vemic, who will take over the role of Chief of Police; Krzysztof Baczyk will take over the Chief of Police.

Meanwhile, in the upcoming revival of “Iolanta” and ‘The Nutcraker” Ain Anger has canceled the role King René due to health reasons. Tsymbalyuk, who is expected to recover for the premiere, will take over the role.

“Lady Macbeth of Mtsenk” stars Aušrinė Stundytė, John Daszak, and Pavel Černoch and runs throughs April 25. “Iolanta” and “The Nutcraker” opens on May 9 and stars Valentina Naforniţă, Dmytro Popov, and Artur Ruciński.
