Opera Naples To Present Rare Haydn Opera ‘L’Isola Disabitata’

By Francisco Salazar

Opera Naples continues its season with Haydn’s rarely performed opera “L’isola Disabitata.”

The opera, which takes place on a tiny deserted island, will be conducted by Ramón Tebar. He will lead a chamber orchestra with Theatre Zone’s Mark Danni as stage director and the members of Opera Naples’ 2018-19 Resident Artist program.

Among the lead performers will be mezzo-soprano Megan Moore, who has performed in the company’s “La Cenerentola,” “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” and “Serse,” and baritone Sunyeop Hwang, who sang “Don Pasquale,” “La Bohème,” “Così Fan Tutte,” and “Le Nozze Di Figaro.”

Soprano Kellie Motter and tenor Achilles Bezanis will also be part of the cast.

“L’Isola Disabitata” will be presented at the Wang Opera Center on Feb. 21 and 23, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.
