Opera Naples Raises Money for Wang Opera Center

By Francisco Salazar

Opera Naples raised more than $18,000 during the “¡Olé! A Celebration of Spanish Song” concert.

The concert was a fundraiser in support of the Opera Naples Rebuilding Fund which suffered significant damage to the Wang Opera Center performance space from Hurricane Ian.

The concert included music from Spanish opera and classic bolero performed by Ray Gonzalez, Latino-infused jazz by the Stu Shelton Jazz Band, Spanish wines and delectable tapas at The Naples Players.

In a statement Opera Naples’ Executive Laura Burns said, “We are humbled by the support we have received from our patrons and the community as we work to rebuild. We will continue to carry out our mission and be back better than ever.”

The company continues its season in December with a production of “Romeo et Juliette”  starring Jeanette Vecchione-Donatti, Santiago Ballerini, and Burak Bilgili. Performances will feature the Naples Philharmonic conducted by Opera Naples’ Artistic & Music Director Ramón Tebar.
