Opera Memphis Announces 2023 Season

Opera Memphis has unveiled its 2023 season which will consist of four showcases.

First up is the previously announced “Tosca” starring Leah Hawkins, Rafael Davila, and Todd Thomas. Ari Pelto conducts a production directed by Ned Canty.

Performance Dates: Jan. 27 & 28, 2023 

“Opera Goes to Mardi Gras” will feature Erika Vasallo and Matthew Soibelman alongside pianist Jacob Kerzner as they present music by such composers as Verdi, Rossini, Bernstein, and Poulenc, among others.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18, 2023

Marie-Stéphane Bernard will perform “Sounds of My Life” in a co-production with Germantown Performing Arts Center. She will be joined by pianist Karim Medjebeur.

““I wanted to create first and foremost a performance that I would love to see,” Bernard said of the program for the concert. “I imagined what I loved to hear and started there. My goal was to share beautiful music – arias, operettas, French chansons – and bring audiences on my journey of discovery.”

Performance Dates: March 11, 2023

The Opera Memphis season ends with “The Rising and the Falling” in a production by Ned Canty. Cris Frisco conducts a cast starring Erika Vasallo, Philip Himebook, Marcus King, and Matthew Soibelman.

Performance Dates: May 12 & 13, 2023
