Opera Memphis Announces 2019-20 Season

Opera Memphis has announced its 2019-20 season featuring two main productions and a variety of programs and festivals.

Opera Memphis opens with “30 Days of Opera” which features dozens of free opera performances across Memphis and the MidSouth, turning the opera house inside out and taking the music to you. Performances will be held at the Cooper-Young Festival, Germantown Festival, South Main Trolley Night, and the Memphis Farmers Market, among others.

Performance Dates: Sept. 1-30, 2018

The second production of the season will be “Opera Goes to Broadway” at the  Dixon Gallery & Gardens. The performances will also feature pieces from many Broadway favorites.

Performance Dates: Nov. 1-3, 2019

Michael Sakir conducts “A Victorian Holiday” with Ned Canty directing.

Performance Dates: Dec. 14-21, 2019

The company will present a double bill of two Puccini works. First, the company will present “Suor Angelica” and then “Gianni Schicchi.” Michael Sakir conducts Ned Canty’s production.

Performance Dates: Feb. 14 & 15, 2020

Mozart’s “Così fan Tutte” returns with a production by Ned Canty and Micahel Sakir conducting.

Performance Dates: March 28 & April 4, 2020

The season ends with the Midtown Opera Festival. 

Performance Dates: March 23 – April 5, 2020

The company will also feature “The Jessye Norman Concert” in which the legendary soprano will take the stage at the Cannon Center for an evening of song.
