Opera Maine Announces Productions of ‘As One’ & ‘Elisir d’Amore’

Opera Maine has announced two new productions for the summer of 2021.

The company will present “As One” in a production by Richard Gammon. The work will star Heather Jones and baritone Jack Canfield. Jackson McKinnon will conduct The Palaver String Quartet.

Each performance will be followed up by a Q & A featuring composer Laura Kaminsky; Gia Drew, Program Director of Equality Maine; Brandy Brown, Gender Clinic Coordinator at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital; and local transgender community members. The conversation will be moderated by Calien Lewis.

Performance Dates: July 16 & 18, 2021

Next up will be Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore.” The opera will be conducted by Israel Gursky and directed by Artistic Director Dona D. Vaughn in a production presented without intermission.

The Donizetti comedy will star soprano Sarah Tucker, tenor Joshua Wheeker, baritone Luis Alejandro Orozco, bass Gary Simpson, and soprano Shaina Martinez.

Performance Dates: July 28 & 30, 2021.
