Opera Maine Announces Live Opera Productions This Summer

By Logan Martell

Opera Maine has announced that it will be returning to the Merrill Auditorium for live performances this July.

On July 16 and 18, OM’s Studio Artists will present Kimberly Reed, Laura Kaminsky, and Mark Campbell’s opera “As One.” Directed by Studio Artists Director Richard Gammon, the production will also feature two voices accompanied by The Palaver String Quartet and is conducted by Jackson McKinnon.

On July 28 and 30, the company will present Donizetti’s “Elixir of Love,” in a modified staging without intermission due to COVID safety regulations. Maestro Israel Gursky will conduct 16 members of the company orchestra, with Nicolas Alberto Dosman as chorus master.

Founded in 1995 as the Portland Opera Repertory Theatre, Opera Maine is one of the region’s leading presenters of fully staged operatic productions.
