Opera Maine Announces Auditions For ‘The Magic Flute’

By Nicole Kuchta

Attention singers: Opera Maine has announced auditions for its July 2019 mainstage production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.”

The production will be sung in German with English dialogue.

Local singers are invited to participate in a live audition for the chorus and comprimario roles on Friday, Feb. 1 between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Williston Immanuel United Church.

Auditions are by appointment only, so singers must request auditions via email. If a singer cannot attend the live audition, there will be the option of a video audition.

Additionally, auditions for the “3 Child Spirits” will be held in April.

There is no fee to audition, and an accompanist will be provided.

Rehearsals run from late May through July, and performances will be held at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland, ME on July 24 and 26.
