Opera Ithaca to Showcase ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’
By David SalazarOpera Ithaca is set to present Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld” starting on April 28, 2023.
The work will star Charles Carlotta as Orpheus, Francesca Federico as Eurydice, Gabriel Hernandez as Pluto, and Bryan Murray as Jupiter.
The production will get an additional performance on April 29, 2023. Both showcases will be presented at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY.
“Opera Ithaca is so fortunate to have a wonderful cast and creative team assembled for this project. The ‘lighter than air’ quality of Offenbach’s music is reflected in the entirely inflatable set, designed by Norman Johnson, a sight gag that will immediately take the audience into the silly sphere of this story,” said Opera Ithaca Artistic Director Ben Robinson, who will also direct the production.
