Opera in the Park to Present Concert at Deer Lake Park this July

On July 16, 2023, Opera in the Park will make its highly anticipated return to Deer Lake Park, in collaboration with the City of Burnaby, to present a complimentary evening concert for families.

The concert will feature arias and duets from Vancouver Opera’s upcoming 2023-2024 season, which will feature such works as  “The Magic Flute,” “Don Pasquale,” and “Carmen.” Jonathan Darlington will lead the Vancouver Opera orchestra and a cast of singers including soprano Jonelle Sills, soprano Magda How, mezzo-soprano Emma Parkinson, tenor Andrew Haji, and baritone Clarence Frazer.

“We are delighted to return to Deer Lake Park for Opera in the Park,” said Tom Wright, Vancouver Opera General Director, in an official press statement. “This free summer concert is a continuation of our partnership with the City of Burnaby following our incredibly successful concert last summer. Our July 16 event includes a day filled with performances for music lovers of all ages with plenty of activities for families. The concert is a celebration of familiar favorites from our upcoming season productions.”

The concert commences at 7:30 p.m.
