Opera in the Heights Unveils Cast Info for ‘Tosca’

By David Salazar

Opera in the Heights will present Puccini’s “Tosca” at Lambert Hall in Houston starting on Nov. 13, 2026.

General and Artistic Director Kathryn Frady will sing the title role. Jonny Kaufman will sing Cavaradossi and Jeff Mattsey will sing Baron Scarpia. The cast also includes Christopher Besch as Angelotti, Jack Cozad as the Sacristan, Wagner Pázmino as Spoletta, Antoine Griggs as Sciarrone, James Gooden as the Jailer, and Yuiba Shin as the Shepherd Boy, alongside the Opera in the Heights Chorus and Orchestra.

Andy Anderson will conduct. Matthew Haney directs, with scenic design by Edgar Guajardo and costumes by Shaun Heath and Mary Webber.

“‘Tosca’ is an opera that thrives on intimacy. The relationships are incredibly personal, but the stakes are enormous. Love, jealousy, art, faith, politics, and power all collide over the course of a single day,” Frady said, per an official press release. “In Lambert Hall, there is very little distance between the audience and the artists, and I think that makes a story like ‘Tosca’ especially powerful. You’re not simply watching these events unfold; you’re almost inside the room with these characters.”

There will be a total of four performances with additional shows set for Nov 15, 19, and 21, 2026.

The company will host its “Sip & Sitz” rehearsal event on Nov. 7 and a fundraising event, “Let’s ToscAbout it!,” on Nov. 16 featuring members of the cast.
