Opera in the Heights to Present ‘Lucidity’

By David Salazar

Opera in the Heights is set to present the Houston premiere of “Lucidity” this March.

The chamber opera by composer Laura Kaminsky and librettist David Cote will be presented on March 6 and 8, 2026 at Lambert Hall in partnership with the Houston-based nonprofit Amazing Place.

The work centers on the inner life of a woman living with Alzheimer’s disease, exploring memory, identity, and personal connection.

“’Lucidity’ is a work that speaks directly to the human experience of memory and connection,” said Kathryn Frady, Interim General Director of Opera in the Heights, per an official press release. “Partnering with Amazing Place allows us to deepen the impact of this production by connecting art with real-world support, education, and compassion for families navigating dementia.”

In addition to the performances, Opera in the Heights and Amazing Place plan to offer related community programming, including educational resources and post-performance discussions.
