Opera Holland Park Announces 2023 Season

Opera Holland Park has announced its 2023 season.

The company will open its season on May 30 with new productions of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” starring Stephen Gadd, Alison Langer, David Junghoon Kim, Simon Wilding, and Hannah Pedley. Lee Reynolds conducts the production by Cecilia Stinton.

Performance Dates: May 30-June 24, 2023

Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” sung in German will feature 2023 Young Artists including Charlotte Badham, Laura Lolita Perešivana, Eleanor Dennis, Paul Carey Jones, and Meeta Raval. Karin Hendrickson conducts the production by John Wilkie.

Performance Dates: June 10-23, 2023

There will also be a new production of Puccini’s “La bohème” with Adam Gilbert, Katie Bird, Ross Ramgobin, Elizabeth Karani, Harry Thatcher, and Barnaby Rea. George Jackson conducts the production by Natascha Metherell.

Performance Dates: July 19-August 5, 2023

The company will also showcase the world premiere of Jonathan Dove’s new opera, “Itch,” commissioned by Opera Holland Park with the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto, and based on the best-selling novels by Simon Mayo. Adam Temple-Smith, Natasha Agarwal, Rebecca Bottone, Eric Greene, Rob Burt, James Laing, Victoria Simmonds, and Nicholas Garrett star. Jessica Cottis conducts the production by Stephen Barlow.

Performance Dates: July 22-August 4, 2023

In its third co-production with Opera Holland Park, Charles Court Opera will join the company for a new production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedy of ancestral ghosts, obligatory wickedness, and falsified tax returns, “Ruddigore.” Matthew Kellett, John Savournin, Stephen Gadd, Richard Suart, Llio Evans, Heather Lowe, Heather Shipp, Natasha Agarwal, and Caroline Carragher. David Eaton conducts the production by John Savournin.

Performance Dates: August 9-12, 2023

The company also announced that in 2024 Season will revive Stephen Barlow’s 2008 production of “Tosca,” which was ast seen in revival at Richmond Theatre in 2009.
