Opera Festival Scotland Readies for Inaugural Season in 2021
By Logan MartellAs a result of the growing passion for opera in Scotland, artists, volunteers, and directors have come together to form the new, non-profit organization Opera Festival Scotland, whose inaugural season is set for September of 2021.
The festival has announced it will feature national singing competitions, masterclasses, workshops, and performances as they aim to reach new audiences and bring them to the Caird and Marryat Hall in the city of Dundee, Scotland. The festival is partnered with distinguished companies such as Scottish Opera, English National Opera, Opera for Peace, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Victoria Albert Museum.
Further details of the festival program will be announced in the upcoming months, with the company hoping to rejuvenate the local performing arts scene in the wake of this period of widespread theatre closure.
“A grass-roots opera festival arising out of the great city of Dundee is a thrilling prospect,” writes Festival Honorary Patron Judith Weir CBE. “Let’s make it happen!”
