Daniele Gatti is set to replace Sir Antonio Pappano at the Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia.

The Corriere della Serra is reporting that Pappano will leave his post in Rome at the end of the 2021-24 season to become the chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra.

The news comes as Gatti’s contract as Music Director of the Opera di Roma is set to expire at the end of the year. Gatti worked with the Santa Cecilia Orchestra during the 90s and the new post would be a return to the Italian conductor.

Additionally, the Corriere della Serra is reporting that Michele Mariotti will take over the Opera di Roma. Mariotti who has conducted all over the world including the Wiener Staatsoper, Metropolitan Opera, and Royal Opera House, is also well known in Rome and is set to conduct this April in two live streams.
