The Opéra National de Paris has not only continued to cancel performances, but will also be closing off the Palais Garnier due to the part of the staff joining the strike.

National strike that has been hitting Opéra de Paris performances has continued unabated. Opera House has also warned visitors that  due to the current circumstances performances on Dec. 29, 30, and 31 might also be affected.

National strikes regarding pension systems started on December 5, leading to a number of high profile cancelations at both the Opéra Bastille and Palais Garnier. Operas that have been affected by the strike have included presentations of Borodin’s opera “Prince Igor” with Ildar Abdrazakov, Elena Stikhina, Dmitry Ulyanov and Anita Rachvelishvilli,  as well as Bellini’s opera “Il Pirata” with a cast that included Sondra Radvanovsky, Michael Spyres, and Ludovic Tézier.
