The Opéra de Paris has canceled the Sept. 24 performance of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The company announced that due to a strike regarding the proposed reform of the pension system, the scheduled performance was canceled.

As a result the company is offering ticket-holders the chance to exchange their tickets for another production of the 2019-2020 season depending on availability or will refund audience members.

The next performance of “La Traviata” is scheduled for Sept. 26 and is set to star Zuzana Marková, Atalla Ayan, and Jean-François Lapointe.

The Sept. 28 performance starring Pretty Yende, Benjamin Bernheim, and Ludovic Tezier with Michele Mariotti conducting the new Simon Stone production will be broadcast on Medici.tv.

Performances for “La Traviata” are all sold out and run through Oct. 16, 2019.
