The Opéra National de Paris has canceled this evening’s performance of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Opéra Bastille due to the national strike notice, according to the company’s official website.

The cast for “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” includes Xabier Anduaga, Lisette Oropesa, Carlo Lepore, and Florian Sempey and Ilya Kutyukhin alternating in the role of Figaro. Carlo Montanaro is set to conduct the production by Damiano Michieletto.

The strike against the French government pension reform has hit the company hard and extensively, leading to a number of high profile cancellations in December, including performances of Borodin’s “Prince Igor” with Ildar Abdrazakov, Elena Stikhina, Dmitry Ulyanov and Anita Rachvelishvilli, as well as Belllini’s “Il Pirata” with a cast that included Sondra Radvanovsky, Michael Spyres, and Ludovic Tézier.

The run of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” is still set to continue on Tuesday, January 14, and will end on February 12.
