Opéra De Paris Cancels Another Performance Of “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges”

Opéra National de Paris has canceled the Thursday Jan. 23, 2020 presentation of the double bill “L’Après-midi d’un faune”and ”L’Enfant et les sortilèges” at the Palais Garnier due to the national strike. 

The national strike against the French government’s pension reform has been hitting the opera house over the past two months leading to a series of a high profile cancellations.

The cast for Ravel’s “L’Enfant et les sortilèges” was set to star Jeanne Ireland, Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur, Aleksandra Jovanovic, Ilanah Lobel-Torres, Andrea Cueva Molnar, Ramya Roy, Edwin Crossley‑Mercer,  Gemma Ní Bhriain, Alexander York, Tobias Westman and Liubov Medvedeva.

Vello Pähn was scheduled to conduct the production by Richard Jones and Anthony McDonald.

“L’Après-midi d’un faune” and ”L’Enfant et les sortilèges” is still set to return on Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Palais Garnier.
