Opéra de Paris Announces Cast Changes for ‘Khovanshchina’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’

The Opéra de Paris has announced cast changes for its productions of “Khovanshchina” and “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

The company noted that Olga Busuioc has withdrawn from “Khovanshchina” and as a result, the role of Emma will be sung by Anush Hovhannisyan.

Hovhannisyan made her Paris Opera debut during the first performance on Jan. 26 and once again joins a cast that includes Dimitry Ivashchenko, Sergei Skorokhodov, John Daszak, Evgeny Nikitin, Dmitry Belosseslkiy, Anita Rachvelishvili, Carole Wilson, and Gerhard Siegel.

Meanwhile, Peter Mattei has canceled performances on Feb. 1 and 3, 2022 due to illness. As a result, the role of Il Conte d’Almaviva will be played by Christopher Maltman for these two performances.

Maltman is known for his interpretation of the Count and joins a cast that includes Maria Bengtsson, Luca Pisaroni, Lea Desandre, and Ying Fang.

“Le Nozze di Figaro” is currently being performed at the Palais Garnier through Feb. 18 while “Khovanshchina” runs through Feb. 18 at the Opéra Bastille.
