Opéra de Paris Announces Cast Change for ‘The Exterminating Angel’

The Opéra de Paris has announced a cast change for “The Exterminating Angel.”

The company said that Caroline Wettergreen has withdrawn from the role of Leticia and will be replaced by Gloria Tronel.

Tronel is a winner of the Jessica Pratt Prize at the 22nd Ottavio Ziino International Opera Competition, and the First Prize at the Festival Mimas Singing Competition. She is also the winner of the Georges Enesco Grand Prize. She has performed at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Het Nationale Theater and the Royal Danish Opera.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Jacquelyn Stucker, Hilary Summers, Claudia Boyle, Christine Rice, Amina Edris, Nicky Spence, Frédéric Antoun, Jarrett Ott, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Filipe Manu, Philippe Sly, Paul Gay, Clive Bayley, Thomas Faulkner, and Ilanah Lobel-Torres. Thomas Adès and Courtney Lewis alternate at the podium in a production by Calixto Bieito.

“The Exterminating Angel” will be performed from Feb. 29 to March 23 at the Opéra Bastille.
