The Opéra de Paris has announced a cast change for its Dec. 22 performance of “Rigoletto.”

The company said that Kristina Mkhitaryan will sing the role of Gilda stepping in for an ill Rosa Feola.

In a statement via social media Feola said, “Dear all, unfortunately, I had to cancel my performance in Rigoletto today due to illness. I’m very sorry but I think it’s better to rest and recover as fast as possible. Thank you to my colleague Kristina Mkhitaryan who is jumping in and In bocca al lupo a tutti !!!”

Mkhitaryan is set for a production of “Eugene Onegin” at the Teatro Real later in January. She has performed the role of Gilda at Opera Australia and Hamburgische Staatsoper.

She joins a cast that includes Roman Burdenko, Liparit Avetisyan, Aude Extrémo, and Goderdzi Janelidze. Domingo Hindoyan conducts the production by Claus Guth.
