The Opéra de Paris has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

The company noted that Ildebrando d’Arcangelo has withdrawn from the role of Figaro. As a result, Adam Palka will sing the title role.

Palka has performed at the Warsaw Grand Theatre, Baltic Opera, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. He was a Zurich Opera Studio member and is currently a member of Staatsoper Stuttgart. This season he will perform in productions of “Boris Godunov,” “Mefistofele,” “Rigoletto,” “Don Carlo,” “La Sonnambula,” “Eugene Onegin,” and “Carmen.”

The bass joins a cast that includes Peter Mattei, Maria Bengtsson, Miah Persson, Lea Desandre, and Dorothea Röschmann. Gustavo Dudamel conducts.

“Le Nozze di Figaro” will be performed at the Palais Garnier from Jan. 19 to Feb. 18, 2022.
