The Opéra de Paris has announced a cast change for its Oct. 6, 2023 performance of “Don Giovanni.”

The company said that Julia Kleiter is unwell and has canceled the performance. As a result, the role of Donna Anna will be performed by Maria Bengtsson.

Bengtsson is a Sweden soprano who has performed with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Teatro alla Scala, Bolshoi Theatre, Wiener Staatsoper, Paris Opera, the Salzburg, and the Festival Aix-en-Provence, among others. Her repertoire includes the music of Strauss, Mozart, Poulenc, Verdi, and others.

She is set to join a cast that includes Kyle Ketelsen, Cyrille Dubois, Tara Erraught, John Reyea, Bogdan Talos, and Guilhem Worms. Antonello Manacorda conducts the productions by Claus Guth.
