Ópera de Oviedo Postpones ‘Madama Butterfly’ Opening

The Ópera de Oviedo has announced it will postpone the opening of its production of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”

After the region of Asturias imposed restrictions on the region for two weeks, the company said, “that it will reschedule the opera for Nov. 20, 21, 23, 25, 28, and 30 once the restrictions are lifted and will continue to follow safety regulations imposed by the government.”

The company also added that since it began rehearsals in August, it applied all rules and regulations and has had no health incidents since reopening. The company has already performed productions of “I Purtani” and “L’heure Espagnole / Les mamelles de Tirésias” since reopening.

“Madama Butterfly” is set to star Ainhoa Arteta and Beatriz Díaz in the title role and Jorge de León and Fabián Lara as Pinkerton. Óliver Díaz conducts the production.
