Ópera de Oviedo Delays Opening of ‘Adriana Lecouvreur’

By Francisco Salazar

The Ópera de Oviedo has delayed the premiere of “Adriana Lecouvreur.”

The company noted that the surge in the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has affected the rehearsal schedule of the production, forcing the company to move the opening performance from Jan. 24 to Feb. 4, 2022.

As a result, the opera will now open on Jan. 27 and will maintain the five performances that were originally announced.

Ermonela Jaho takes on the title role with Nancy Fabiola Herrera as the Princess de Bouillon, Alejandro Roy as Maurizio, Luis Cansino as Michonnet, and Felipe Bou as the Prince de Bouillon. The cast will be rounded out by Marifé Nogales, Josep Fadó, Carlos Daza, Alberto Casals, and Cristina Toledo.

Daniele Callegari will conduct the opera in Rosetta Cucchi’s production.

“Adriana Lecouvreur” is set to run through Feb. 5, 2022.
