The Ópera de Oviedo has announced a cast change for its production of Strauss’ “Arabella.”

The company said that Jessica Muirhead will take over the title role replacing Maite Alberola, who is indisposed.

The Fundación Ópera de Oviedo noted that they will announce a new engagement for Alberola.

Muirhead has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Semperoper Dresden, Staatsoper Hamburg, Glyndebourne Festival, and the Canadian Opera Company, among others. She is known for singing Mozart, Puccini, Bizet, and Verdi.

Muirhead will join a cast that includes María Hinojosa, Christoph Seidl, Carole Wilson, Heiko Trinsinger, and Jihoon Son. Corrado Rovaris conducts a production by Guy Joosten.

“Arabella” opens on Nov. 17 and runs through Nov. 23, 2024 at the Teatro Campoamor.
