Ópera De Oviedo Announces 2020-21 Season
By Francisco SalazarThe Ópera de Oviedo has announced its 2020-21 season celebrating its 73rd year.
The season will open with the company premiere of two famed French works: Ravel’s “L`heure espagnole” and Puolenc’s “Les mamelles de Tirésias.”
Performance Dates: Sept. 6, 8, 10 & 12, 2020
Bellini’s final work “I Puritani” returns to the stage bringing vocal fireworks from its soloists.
Performance Dates: Oct. 1, 4, 7, 9 & 10, 2020
Puccini’s iconic work “Madama Butterfly” returns to the Teatro Campoamor after a few years absent from the Spanish stage.
Performance Dates: Nov. 12, 15, 18, 20 & 21, 2020
The company will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with the company premiere of the composer’s only opera “Fidelio.”
Performance Dates: Dec. 10, 13, 16 & 19, 2020
The season will end with Bizet’s “Les pêcheurs de perles,” an opera which has grown in popularity over the last season.
Performance Dates: Jan. 28, 31, Feb. 3, 5 & 6, 2021
Casting will be announced at later point.
