Opera De Colombia To Pay Tribute To Gloria Zea

Opera de Colombia is set to pay tribute to Gloria Zea.

The concert scheduled for Oct. 30 in the Movistar Arena, will star Betty Garcés, Amalia Avilán, Paola Leguizamón, Karolyn Rosero, Ana María Ruge, Juan David Gonzalez, and Andres Agudelo.

Alejandro Roca will conduct the concert with the Orquesta Nueva Filarmonia.

Zea died earlier this year and became one of the biggest proponents of the arts in Colombia. She was able to to obtain the terrain for the Museo de Arte Moderno and helped obtain funding for the construction of the museum, which was designed by Rogelio Salmona.

In 1976 she was named the director of the Ópera de Colombia and started hosting fire-side soirées with international opera singers and invited the likes of Juan Diego Flórez, Gustavo Dudamel, Angela Brower Anna Netrebko, and Sumi Jo to perform in Colombia.
