Ópera de Colombia Announces 2020 Slate As It Celebrates World Opera Day

The Ópera de Colombia will celebrate World Opera Day on Oct. 26 with a transmission on Canal Capital of the opera “La princesa y la arveja.”

The production is the third that the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá did last year during the Festival Ópera al Parque.

In Cali, Donizetti’s “Lucia Di Lamermoor” will be presented and the Teatro Municipal Enrique Buenaventura will celebrate its 92 years. That production will be presented on Nov. 20 and 21 with the support of la Fundación Aria y Memoria and la Orquesta Filarmónica de Cali.

The Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo also announced that in 2020 the Ópera de Colombia will present Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni on Feb. 25, 27, and 29  with Marcelo Lombardero directing and José Areán conducting. Beethoven’s ‘Fidelio” will also be presented on Sept. 8, 10, and 12.

Cine Colombia will also continue to present the Met Opera Live in HD series and on Jan. 11, 2020 the Cartagena Festival Internacional de Música will present a concert on  with arias Mozart, Salieri, Rossini and  Schubert. The gala will see the Camerata de Salzburg with Paola Leguizamón, Carolina Lippo, Sara Bermúdez, Pablo Martínez, Klemens Sander and  Horst Lamnek.
