Opera Company of Middlebury Unveils Spring 2026 Showcases

The Opera Company of Middlebury has announced its 2026 spring season productions.

Filippo Ciabatti conducts Verdi’s “La Traviata,” directed by Douglas Anderson and set in the 1920s. The cast features Avery Boettcher as Violetta Valéry, Jared Esguerra as Alfredo Germont, and Andrew Manea as Giorgio Germont, with Nicholas Tocci as Baron Douphol.

Performance Dates: June 5 – 13, 2026


The Young Artist Program, under the artistic direction of Alejandro Roca, presents the U.S. premiere of Xavier Montsalvatge’s one-act opera “Babel 46,” staged by Patrick Diamond. Composed in the 1960s and premiered in 1994, the work is set in a post-World War II refugee camp and is sung in Italian, French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Hebrew.

Performance Dates: June 12 & 14, 2026
