Opera Columbus to Perform Händel’s ‘Messiah’

Opera Columbus is set to present a pub performance of Händel’s “Messiah.”

In a statement, Opera Columbus General Director + CEO, Julia Noulin-Mérat said, “The holiday season is a magical time here in Columbus. And with the ‘Messiah’ having such a great history of community participation, we really felt this was a great way to get into the holiday spirit with family and friends.”

The performances will last approximately 60 minutes with Maestro Que Jones leading the first showcase of the immersive production. Casey Cook performs the piano. Joining them at Loose Rail Brewery on Dec. 1 will be Chelsea Hart-Melcher (soprano), Carolyn Redman (mezzo-soprano), Matthew Mac Manus (tenor), and Robert Kerr (bass).

The “Messiah” Sing-Along will then be performed on Dec. 3, 2023 at the McCoy Center for the Arts. Maestro Jason Hiester will lead the performance featuring Chelsea Hart-Melcher (soprano), Stephanie Durant (mezzo-soprano), Michael Kirkman (tenor), and Artega Wright (bass), with Casey Cook on piano.

On Dec. 6, Jason Hiester and pianist Casey Cook will close the tour alongside Chelsea Hart-Melcher (soprano), Stephanie Durant (mezzo-soprano), Michael Kirkman (tenor), and Robert Kerr (bass) at BrewDog – DogTap Columbus.
